Performance Standards

The Performance Standards are an integral part of MdR’s business. Their implementation and maintenance provides the means to:

  • Manage and minimise threats;
  • Identify and realise opportunities;
  • Comply with statutory obligations;
  • Deliver a framework for continuous improvement; and
  • Provide a measurement for value-creating business performance.

The Performance Standards apply to all Company-managed assets, employees, directors, officers, contractors, consultants, its subsidiaries and any other party undertaking work for MdR. The Company is required to have capability based on the Standards.

New or acquired Assets will undertake a Risk Assessment to determine when the Standards must be fully implemented. This Risk Assessment must be approved by the MdR Chairman.

MdR´s performance standards are categorized into four sections namely:  Safety Performance Standards, Health and Wellbeing Performance Standards, Environmental Performance Standards and Community Performance Standards.

Safety Performance Standards

The Safety Performance Standards are one of four performance areas that together provide the governance and integration to unlock value across our business.

The Safety Performance Standards describe the minimum requirements of assets to manage threats associated with specific activities or tasks that have the potential to adversely affect the safety of our employees and contractors.

Our target is to achieve an injury and occupational disease free workplace by ensuring that hazards are identified and managed at the source. All safety incidents are thoroughly investigated, learnings shared and corrective actions are implemented.

By delivering a programme of threat and opportunity based safety management, we aim to protect the safety of our employees, contractors, communities and any other party undertaking work at the Asset – without compromise.

MdR is committed to high standards and leadership in the areas of safety for its employees, contractors and the communities in which we operate. Mining activities by their nature have the potential to impact the safety of people and all threats must be identified, evaluated and managed to minimise all identified actual and potential adverse impacts so far as reasonable practicable.

Health and Wellbeing Performance Standards

The Health and Wellbeing Performance Standards are one of four performance areas that together provide the governance and integration to unlock value across our business.

The Health and Wellbeing Performance Standards describe the minimum requirements of Assets to manage threats associated with specific activities or tasks, identify opportunities that have the potential to drive value creation for MdR and to protect and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of our Employees and Contractors and the sustainability of the workplace.

The Health and Wellbeing of our Employees and Contractors is critical to providing a safe workplace. MdR recognises the importance of health and safety within the mining industry and the interrelation between physical, mental, emotional and social health on the overall wellbeing of its Employees and Contractors.

To stay safe at our sites, MdR expects workers to be fit for work.

MdR is committed to high standards of health and wellbeing among its Employees and Contractors and is focused on leadership, a supportive workplace culture, building capabilities, implementing prevention controls and promoting the return to work of affected individuals. The Health and Wellbeing Performance Standards support MdR’s policies by articulating the minimum requirements to which Employees and Contractors must adhere.

Environmental Performance Standards

The Environmental Performance Standards are one of four performance areas that together provide the governance and integration to unlock value across our business.

The Environmental Performance Standards describe the minimum requirements of Assets to manage environmental threats and impacts associated with specific activities or tasks, and to identify opportunities that have the potential to drive value creation for both MdR and the communities in which we operate.

MdR is committed to providing a high standard of care for the natural environment through effective organisational practices, progressive land rehabilitation and application of impact profiles as low as reasonably practicable, which are central to our continued performance.

Our activities are undertaken within the framework of mining approvals, lease conditions and licences established by environmental regulatory authorities. We actively engage with local communities and other stakeholders during the various stages of a mining project, from environmental approval processes and exploration through to development, production and closure, to ensure the environmental, social and economic impacts of our projects are understood.

MdR is committed to high standards of environmental performance among its Employees. The Environmental Performance Standards support MdR´s policies by articulating the minimum requirements to which Employees and Contractors must adhere.

Community Performance Standards

The Community Performance Standards are one of four performance areas that together provide the governance and integration to unlock value across our business.

The Community Performance Standards describe the minimum requirements of Assets to manage threats associated with specific activities or tasks, and to identify opportunities that have the potential to drive value creation for both MdR and the communities in which we operate and wish to be welcome.

Building and maintaining strong supportive relationships and partnerships with local people in the areas where we operate drives value creation for both the business and communities and is within our core strategy. We seek to deliver long-term benefits to local communities and other stakeholders by engaging and collaborating with local communities, understanding the community (and other) impacts of our activities, and reducing the negative effects of our activities.

MdR is committed to high standards of community engagement and social performance by its Employees and Contractors. The Social Performance Standards support MdR policies by articulating the minimum requirements to which Employees and Contractors must adhere.
